Famara beach and its surfing facilities.

Famara beach is a 4 kilometre stretch of golden sand with the impressive and dramatic back drop of the vertical 'El Risco' cliffs rising over 600 metres. Famara beach is a great surf spot which picks up lots of swell. The sort of waves found on the beach are best suited to beginners up to intermediatte surfer skills. There are surfable waves almost everyday of the year. The best spots to surf along the beach can vary as the sand banks and swell direction changes. Generally the best waves are to be found about mid way along the beach. The tide also has an affect on the waves, usually the best surf can be found before high tide with the tide coming in.

The largest waves are to be found in winter time when large storms move north east wards across the Atlantic. There are still waves all Summer but of the smaller variety.
