Famara is one of Europes classic 'chilled out' surf towns. There is a very relaxed atmosphere perfect for a rejuvinating beach based break. The town of Famara has a selection of surf shops, kitesurf shops, restaurants and bars. If you wish you could easily spend your entire holiday just drifting between your self catering accommodation, the beach and the town, never needing a hire car.

The town of Famara, known as 'Caleta de Famara' is located at the southern end of the dramatic and beautiful Famara beach. The town has a small fishing harbour and a picturesque promenade. Situated 500 metres from the Caleta de Famara are the 'Famara bungalows', this is an urbanisation of 1, 2 and 3 bedroomed semi circular houses on plots averaging 1000 square metres. Most of the bungalows have lovely sea views and a good level of privacy.

The climate in Famara is said to be perfect all year round. The summers are cooled by the sea breeze and the winters are warm because of the islands southerly location. Where else in the world would you find houses with no air conditioning for Summer or heating for Winter. There are not even any poisonous indidgenous species.

 

Self catering holidays

A self catering holiday in Famara is pretty much the only option. There are no bed and breakfasts or hotels, the town is a little too small and there is no demand. Most people holidaying in Famara prefer the independance and freedom that self catering accommodation has to offer. The selection of accommodation ranges from studio apartments, through apartments in the town of Famara and up to your own bungalow in the Famara bungalows. Prices vary accordingly.
